Penelope McDonald, MS, LPC

Penelope McDonald is a Licensed Professional Counselor in both Alabama and Georgia. She is a graduate from Troy University with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology and a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health.

Penelope’s background includes working in Community Mental Health, Hospitals, and Non-profit Christian Counseling settings to address needs of individuals of all ages, couples, families, and different counseling groups. She has experience facilitating various groups, such as Substance Abuse groups, Drug Court groups, Children’s groups, and Women’s Wellness groups and encourages active participation from each member to promote group cohesiveness as well as individual growth.

Penelope is passionate in promoting Mental Health Awareness by sharing with others as a guest presenter at various social settings in the community such as civic organizations, churches, support group meetings, senior centers, and medical facilities. By educating the public in an effort to disprove the negative stigma of Mental Health and emphasizing a positive perspective on Mental Health services and treatment, Penelope hopes to empower individuals to seek help for themselves and encourage and support others to do so as well.

Penelope McDonald privately practices at Wiregrass Behavioral Group and offers counseling to address issues related to, but not limited to, Depression, Anxiety, Grief, Anger Management, PTSD, ADHD, Substance Abuse, Bipolar, Schizophrenia, Crisis Intervention, Suicide, Women’s Wellness, Self-Image, Social Skills, and Relational Issues. Her experience and training result in a multi-theoretical approach by utilizing various techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Reality Therapy, and Person Centered Approach to facilitate positive personal growth.
